By compartmentalizing our view, we have betrayed and limited what diversity means. It has been couched in terms of equal opportunity and affirmative action. Its perceived intent has been to level the playing field for employment! Diversity is limited because its methodology is flawed. It is based on perceptions of reality that are misleading. Diversity’s potential for innovation, expression of individual creative energy, and complex problem-solving is at the very core of ensuring competitive advantage in a web-based world.
Diversity and its immense value cannot be engineered. It has to become part of the organic tapestry of an enterprise, as natural as breathing is to an individual. Ultimately, diversity’s success is based upon complex relationships that work. They successfully integrate the knowledge, competencies, emotions, and self-interests of individuals with the enlightened self-interest of an organization. Together, they achieve individual goals and organizational objectives. This seminar demonstrates how to encourage those relationships and achieve desired results in this “New Age of Enterprise”.
