This new concept in leadership was spawned during Doug Saarel’s tenure as Chairman of the Board of Overseers at The Aspen Institute and a moderator of its executive programs and developed by relating Doug’s prior experiences as Commandant at the U.S. Army Leaders Academy and as a senior executive at a number of America’s most prestigious companies with his study of philosophy and the new sciences.

What emerged was a recognition that practical concepts and tools were needed to help individuals broaden their perceptions and actions to cope successfully with a challenging new world for which we were ill prepared...a world that functions far more like a weather system and its random influences than a “clockwork universe” to which we have all been socialized for over three hundred years.
